HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-- Darius Marshall ran for 140 yards and one touchdown and Darius Passmore had 128 yards receiving and a score to help Marshall beat Memphis 17-16 on Saturday night.

Marshall, who finished with 27 carries, scored on a 40-yard run in the first quarter to give Thundering Herd (2-1, 1-0 Conference USA) a 7-0 lead.

The Tigers (0-3, 0-2) claimed a 13-10 lead with 5:01 left in the third when Will Hudgens connected with Earnest Williams on a 4-yard touchdown.

But Mark Cann, who threw for 224 yards, threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Passmore to put Marshall ahead 17-13 with 4 seconds remaining in the third.

Matt Regan, who earlier made a 44 and 22 yard field goals, made another from 25 yards away to cut the lead to one point in the fourth, but Memphis pulled no closer.

Arkelon Hall, who completed 28 of 51 passes, threw for 364 yards for the Tigers. Carlos Singleton had 11 catches for 158 yards.
