DAYTON, Ohio -- Scott Vossler blocked a punt and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown and blocked a point-after kick that Joe Castaneda brought back for two more points to lead Dayton past Fordham 23-20 on Saturday.

With Dayton (2-0) leading 14-7, Vossler blocked Clayton Busch's punt and picked up the loose ball and ran it in for the touchdown with 43 seconds left in the half.

After John Skelton scored his second touchdown on a 1-yard run for Fordham (1-1), Vossler blocked Adam Danko's conversion kick and Castaneda took it the other way for two points to push the lead to 23-13 early in the third quarter.

The Rams outgained the Flyers 357-279 and had 10 more first downs (24-14), but they also lost three fumbles.

Rob Florian threw an 11-yard scoring pass to Steve Valentino and Ben Shappie had a 1-yard touchdown run for Dayton.

Skelton also threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Bo Marchand with 6:33 remaining to cut the lead to 23-20, but the Rams never drove into Dayton territory on their final two possessions.
