GREELEY, Colo. -- Deonte Williams ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns, and Northern Arizona held off a late rally by Northern Colorado to win 25-22 Saturday in the Big Sky Conference opener for both teams.

Northern Colorado (0-3, 0-1 Big Sky) trailed 23-22 after Bryan Waggener's 21-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Smith with 1:09 left. The Bears opted to go for two points in a trick formation, but the pitched ball fell to the ground.

Josh Luck picked it up and ran it back for two points for Northern Arizona (3-1, 1-0), which recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.

Northern Colorado led early after Quincy Wofford ran back the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and a two-point conversion gave the Bears an 8-0 lead 12 seconds into the game.

The teams were tied 16-16 at halftime. Williams, a true freshman, had a 6-yard TD run to break the tie in the third quarter.
