SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Bradley George came off the bench to throw three touchdowns and lead Texas State past Texas Southern 63-39 on Saturday night.
Karrington Bush had 219 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns for the Bobcats (3-2), whose victory spoiled a big game from Texas Southern quarterback and Oklahoma State transfer Bobby Reid.
Reid went 38-for-64 for 481 yards, threw four touchdowns and ran in another score for Texas Southern (3-3). He also led the Tigers in rushing with 54 yards on 18 carries.
George was 14-of-17 passing for 281 yards, including a 70-yard score to Luke Cameron.
Texas State starting quarterback Clint Toon was 5-of-10 passing for 53 yards and a touchdown. After Toon threw an interception in the second quarter, George came in and threw the first of his three scoring passes, a 39-yard strike to Blake Burton that gave Texas State a 21-14 lead with 7:47 left in the first half.
George then threw scoring passes to Cameron and Daren Dillard to give the Bobcats a 35-20 halftime lead.
Cameron caught five passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns, including one from Toon.
Bush ran five times for 112 yards, scoring on a 63-yard and a 41-yard run.
William Osbourne was Reid's favorite receiver with 11 catches for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Brian Haith caught eight passes for 101 yards and a TD for Texas Southern.
