HONOLULU -- Inoke Funaki threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Hawaii to a 24-14 victory over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night.

Funaki had a career-high 224 yards passing and he also rushed for 43 yards as the Warriors (3-3, 2-1 Western Athletic Conference) continued their dominance at home against the Bulldogs (2-3, 0-2).

The defending WAC champions improved to 6-1 over the Bulldogs, including 4-0 at Aloha Stadium.

Hawaii, which had six takeaways last week in its upset win at Fresno State, forced Louisiana Tech into four turnovers and blocked a field goal.

Desmond Thomas' interception in the third quarter led to Dan Kelly's 30-yard field goal that put Hawaii up 24-7. Thomas earlier recovered a fumble, which let to a Hawaii touchdown.

The Warriors took a 21-7 lead into halftime after scoring twice in less than a minute.

Greg Salas caught a 25-yard TD pass from Funaki, capping a seven-play, 91-yard drive. On the kickoff, Phillip Livas was stripped by R.J. Kiesel-Kauhane, giving Hawaii possession at the Louisiana Tech 46.

Kealoha Pilares scored two plays later when he took a shovel pass and ran 20 yards for the score with 3:07 left in the half.

Pilares had 106 all-purpose yards, including 54 yards receiving on nine receptions. Salas had three catches for 84 yards.

Louisiana Tech, which extended its road-losing streak to five games, was led by Livas, who had six receptions for 80 yards and Daniel Porter had 82 yards rushing on 15 carries.

Bulldogs quarterback Taylor Bennett was 11-of-29 for 152 yards with two interceptions. His second pick came right after Antonio Baker's blocked punt gave Louisiana Tech possession at the Hawaii 34.

Bennett was replaced in the fourth quarter by Ross Jenkins, who guided the Bulldogs to a late score. Myke Compton scored with 19 seconds left when he picked up a bobbled snap and ran 8 yards into the end zone.

Hawaii went up 7-0 on a 6-yard run by Funaki, who ran right and froze a defender with a fake pitch. The score was setup by Funaki's 53-yard touch pass over the middle to Malcolm Lane, the Warriors' longest pass play of the season.

The Bulldogs, using a no-huddle offense, came up empty on the ensuing drive after having first-and-goal from the Hawaii 3. Jackson was stripped of the ball about a foot from the goal line by Brashton Satele.

Jackson made up for it later by powering 5 yards up the middle to the game at 7-7. Porter rushed four times for 48 yards in the drive and 70 yards in the first half.

Louisiana Tech failed to convert two field goal attempts in the first half. Brad Oestriecher missed a 33-yard field goal attempt and had a 53-yarder blocked by Keala Watson.

The game ended at 9:40 p.m., or 2:40 a.m. Sunday in Ruston.
