LAFAYETTE, La. -- Tyrell Fenroy's 9-yard touchdown run with 42 seconds left lifted Louisiana-Lafayette to a 28-23 comeback victory over Arkansas State on Saturday night.

Fenroy, the nation's active career leading rusher, finished with 128 yards for his 21st career 100-yard game. His touchdown was the 41st of his career, tying the Sun Belt record, and capped the Ragin' Cajuns' rally from a nine-point deficit in the final eight minutes.

Louisiana-Lafayette (4-3, 3-0 Sun Belt), which leads the nation in rushing, was held to 189 yards on the ground after entering the game with a 332.2 average.

Arkansas State (4-3, 2-1) took a 16-14 lead on Josh Arauco's 41-yard field goal, his third of the game, with 7:55 left.

On the first play after the kickoff, Darius Glover stepped in front of a pass from Louisiana-Lafayette's Brad McGuire and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown and a 23-14 advantage.

McGuire, a redshirt freshman making his first start with Michael Desormeaux out with a knee injury, rushed for two touchdowns, including a 4-yard run with 4:16 left that cut the lead 23-21.

Louisiana-Lafayette converted two third-and-long situations on its game-winning 51-yard drive, including a 30-yard pass from McGuire to Derrick Smith.

Arkansas State took a 10-0 first-half lead on Arauco's 20-yard field goal and Corey Leonard's 10-yard scoring pass to Brandon Thompkins.

Louisiana-Lafayette cut the halftime margin to 10-7 on an 18-yard reverse pass from receiver Richie Falgout to Luke Aubrey.

McGuire's 1-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter gave the Ragin' Cajuns a 14-10 lead before Arauco hit two more field goals.
