HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Kevin Atkins threw for 204 yards and a touchdowns to help Alabama A&M beat Alcorn State 20-13 on Saturday night.
The Braves (2-6, 1-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) took a 7-3 lead in the second quarter when Edward Johnson caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Tim Buckley, who finished with 236 yards passing and two interceptions. Johnson Edwards had five catches for 101 yards.
But the Bulldogs (3-5, 2-1) regained the lead for good in the second quarter after Atkins threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Harris, who had eight catches for 94 yards. Alabama A&M later pushed its lead to 20-7 in the third on Nate Baxter's 23-yard touchdown catch from Darian Payne.
