NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- James Mallory ran for three scores to help Central Connecticut State beat Duquesne 35-23 on Saturday.
The Blue Devils (5-2, 2-1 NEC) controlled the clock with their rushing offense. They scored on their first possession on a 3-yard run by Mallory with 9:10 left in the period after using up nearly six minutes.
After Mark Troyan got the Dukes (2-4, 1-3) on the board with a 19-yard field goal on the next drive, Central went back to work. This time the Blue Devils moved 91 yards in a little under eight minutes to take a 14-3 lead on Mallory's five-yard TD run.
His final score with 3:39 left in the third quarter put the game out of reach at 28-10.
Duquesne could only get as close at 28-17 on Connor Dixon's 14-yard TD pass to Mike Rasky with 8:38 left in the game.
