HOUSTON -- Luther Edwards ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns to lead Jackson State to a 30-14 win over Texas Southern on Saturday night.
Trae Rutland went 11-of-13 passing for 180 yards and two touchdowns for Jackson State (3-5, 2-1 SWAC). Rutland ran for an additional 67 yards on 10 carries.
Darius Bolela ran for 77 yards on 11 carries as Jackson State outrushed Texas Southern 328-44.
Marcell Wilder and Joshua Tiller each caught TD passes.
Texas Southern starter Bobby Reid was injured when he was sacked in the first quarter and did not return. Reid, an Oklahoma State transfer, bruised his right knee, sports information director Rodney Bush said after the game.
He was replaced by Cornelius Harmon, who went 14-of-29 for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Haith caught four passes for 53 yards to lead Texas Southern (3-5, 0-3).
Jackson State built a 16-7 halftime lead.
The win was Jackson State's 400th and head coach Rick Comegy's 125th.
