PITTSBURGH -- David Sinsi rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns and Brett Burke threw for 263 yards and two scores as Monmouth, N.J., beat Duquesne 37-14 on Saturday.
Sinsi scored on a 1-yard run to cap a 69-yard drive in the first quarter for Monmouth (7-4, 6-1 Northeast Conference). Burke, who finished 14-of-23, threw a 57-yard touchdown pass to Rodney Salomon later in the quarter and Fred Weingard kicked a 39-yard field goal as Monmouth took a 17-14 halftime lead.
Kevin Rombach scored on a 10-yard touchdown run for Duquesne (3-7, 2-5) after Eric Halberstadt intercepted Burke and returned the ball 24 yards to the Monmouth 10 in the first quarter. Brian Layhue scored one a 3-yard pass from Dixon later in the quarter.
In the second half, Sinsi scored on a 33-yard run in the third quarter and a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter after Kevin Walsh forced Connor Dixon to fumble. Burke, who completed 14 of 23 passes for 263 yards, threw an 83-yard pass to John Nalbone in the third quarter.
Monmouth amassed 497 yards of total offense to Duquesne's 195, holding the Dukes to 61 yards on the ground.
