STATESBORO, Ga. -- Lee Chapple threw two touchdown passes and Adam Urbano had Georgia Southern's first rushing score of the season in a 27-3 victory over Western Carolina on Saturday night.

The Eagles (2-1, 1-0 Southern Conference) kept an opponent out of the end zone for the first time in six years, snapped a five-game conference losing streak at home and won their league opener for the first time since 2005.

Chapple was 26-for-38 for 249 yards as Georgia Southern rolled up 461 yards offense.

Urbano rushed for 78 yards and a 13-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Catamounts quarterback Zack Jaynes was 13-for-33 for 205 yards and had a pass intercepted in the end zone. Western Carolina (0-3, 0-1) had 12 carries for minus-12 yards and fumbled the ball at the 5 in the second quarter. Linebacker Dion Dubose returned the fumble 57 yards to set up the first Eagles touchdown.
