VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Matt Szczur rushed for two touchdowns to lead Villanova to a 28-17 victory over William & Mary on Saturday.

William & Mary outgained the Wildcats 472-283, but Villanova (5-0, 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association) scored on the first offensive play of the game and never trailed.

Szczur scored on a 5-yard run to give Villanova a 14-0 lead and his 4-yard run increased the Wildcats' lead to 28-9 with 2:38 left in the third quarter.

Villanova led 7-0 on Chris Whitney's 55-yard touchdown pass to Brandyn Harvey just 19 seconds into the game.

R.J. Archer went 35-for-55 for 354 yards and a touchdown to lead William & Mary (4-1, 1-1), which had two turnovers and scored only one touchdown on five trips to the red zone.

Jonathan Grimes led William & Mary with 95 yards on 17 carries. Chase Hill had eight catches for 87 yards and D.J. McAulay had seven catches for 100 yards.
