ORONO, Maine -- Warren Smith passed for 226 yards, threw for a touchdown and ran for another score to lead Maine to a 19-9 win over Massachusetts on Saturday.

Smith, who was 19-for-35 passing, also had an interception for the Black Bears (4-4, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association).

Maine trailed 7-3 with 3:40 left in the second quarter after UMass' Jon Hernandez scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. But the Black Bears answered with 16 straight points, highlighted by Smith's 7-yard passing score and his 5-yard touchdown run.

Landis Williams led Maine with 77 yards receiving on six catches.

Scott Woodward was 14-for-27 for 134 yards and threw three interceptions for the Minutemen (4-4, 2-3). Kyle Havens completed 7 of his 12 passes for 99 yards and one interception.
