DAYTON, Ohio -- Steve Valentino scored a 1-yard rushing touchdown with 13:23 left, and Dayton's defense held on for a 21-14 win over San Diego on Saturday.

Valentino, who had scored on a 15-yard run in the third to tie the game at 14, trotted in from a yard out to put the Flyers (7-1, 5-0 Pioneer Football League) up by a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Burns intercepted San Diego (3-5, 2-4) quarterback Bo Stompro to halt its drive on the ensuing possession, and the Dayton defense held the Toreros on fourth-and-4 with just over 3 minutes left to seal the win.

Valentino was 13-for-33 passing with one touchdown and an interception for the Flyers. He also rushed for 107 yards and two scores on 17 carries.

Stompro, who threw TD passes of 82 and 8 yards in the second quarter, finished 12-for-24 with 169 yards and an interception for San Diego.
