RICHMOND, Va. -- Kendall Gaskins ran for 100 yards and a touchdown while Jovan Smith added 76 yards on the ground and a score as Richmond defeated Towson 28-6 in Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday.
Smith scored with 6:10 left in the opening quarter on a 7-yard run to put the Spiders (4-3, 2-2) in front 6-0 after a blocked extra point attempt.
Eric McBride recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff for Richmond as the Spiders took over at the Towson 14-yard line.
Wil Kamin hit field goals from 45, 39 and 30 yards out to extend the Richmond lead to 21-0 with 4:54 left in the third.
The Tigers (1-6, 0-4) finally got on the board after a 5-yard touchdown run by Tremayne Dameron made the score 21-6 after a failed two-point conversion.
