WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Dominique Williams rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another as Wagner defeated Monmouth (N.J.) 44-29 on Saturday.
Williams rushed for 166 yards on 18 carries and scored on runs of 76 and 17 yards. In his only pass attempt, the running back threw a 28-yard touchdown to Justin Matthews.
Wagner (4-7, 4-4 Northeast Conference) closed its season with three straight wins. It was also the Seahawks third win in a row in the series.
Jeremiah Brown returned a blocked punt 22 yards for a touchdown to break a 14-14 tie and begin a streak of 17 straight points for Wagner. A 37-yard interception return by Julian Stanford gave the Seahawks their biggest lead at 44-21 with 3:51 remaining in the game.
Craig Peterson passed for 313 yards and four touchdowns to lead Monmouth (5-6, 4-4), which went winless at home this season for the first time in program history.
