THIBODAUX, La. -- Tuskani Figaro threw three touchdowns, ran for 281 yards and two more scores and Nicholls State beat Arkansas Tech 44-34 on Saturday night.
Nicholls State (3-2) led 37-27 with 7:39 left in the game but Arkansas Tech responded with a two-play scoring drive, including a Ketrich Harmon 55-yard run and a Jonathan Keener 5-yard touchdown.
Arkansas Tech (2-2), a Division II school, forced a three-and-out on Nicholls State's next possession. Harmon had another long run, this time for 60 yards, but Randy Velazquez's game-tying 39-yard field goal attempt was blocked with 1:35 left.
Two plays later, Figaro broke free for the game-clinching 88-yard touchdown.
Nicholls State led 14-0, but Arkansas Tech came back to tie it at 21 on a Darion Shine 57-yard interception return. On Nicholls State's next possession, Carey Fortson caught a 10-yard TD with 7 seconds remaining and the Colonels led 27-21 at the half.
