MANHATTAN, Kansas (Ticker) -- Darren Sproles was bound to take out his frustration on someone.

Sproles rushed for a school-record 292 yards as Kansas State rolled to a 40-20 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette.

Expected to contend for the Heisman Trophy, Sproles' bid to a major hit last Saturday when he was limited to 31 yards rushing in an embarrassing 45-21 home loss to Fresno State.

But facing the No. 106 defense in the country against the run, Sproles received 38 carries and broke the school record of 273 yards that he set last season against Missouri.

With eight games left in the regular season, Sproles is 1,078 yards short of the Big 12 Conference record of 5,289 career yards held by Texas' Ricky Williams.

Sproles scored on a 35-yard run in the first quarter and Dylan Meier passed for a touchdown and ran for another score for the Wildcats (2-1).

Jerry Babb threw for two touchdowns and ran for a score for Louisiana-Lafayette (1-2).
