STANFORD, Calif (AP) -- Aaron Brown scored on a short run with 4:13 remaining to complete the comeback, and Robert Henson batted away Travis Pritchard's fourth-down pass to preserve TCU's 38-36 victory over Stanford on Saturday.

A week after slowing down Southern Cal's offense and pulling off one of the signature upsets in college football history, the Cardinal could not solve the TCU passing attack.

Andy Dalton threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns as TCU (4-3) ended a two-game slide. Brown rushed for 91 yards and caught five passes for 45 yards and a touchdown, and Jimmy Young caught three passes for 110 yards.

The Horned Frogs, hit by injuries at several key positions, were ranked as high as No. 19 earlier in the season.

Pritchard, the hero of the USC upset, was 12-of-27 for 171 yards and two touchdowns for Stanford (2-4). Anthony Kimble added 109 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The teams traded scores through most of the first three quarters, with Kimble's 15-yard touchdown early in the second half putting the Cardinal ahead 28-17.

Stanford extended its lead when Derek Belch kicked a 37-yard field goal with 3:54 left in the third quarter following a drive that lasted more than six minutes.

It took the Frogs two plays and 37 seconds to draw within 31-24. Dalton hooked up with Young over the middle, who outran the Cardinal defense for a 70-yard touchdown.

Stanford then went three-and-out and the Frogs went 60 yards in nine plays, and a 2-yard pass from Dalton to Brown on fourth down tied it with 9:44 left.

Belch's second field goal, this time from 40 yards, put Stanford ahead 34-31 with 7:22 remaining.

Dalton's 31-yard pass to Donald Massey set up Brown's go-ahead touchdown.

Stanford took a 21-17 lead into halftime as Pritchard threw touchdown passes of 5 yards to Evan Moore and 40 yards to Richard Sherman. Kimble followed with a rushing touchdown.

TCU had allowed just two first-half touchdowns entering the game, and has outscored its opponents 80-17 in the second quarter.

The Frogs scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the first half on Dalton's 6-yard run and Joseph Turner's 17-yard dash. Chris Manfredini added a 25-yard field goal just before the break.
