NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tyler Wilke hit the game-winning field goal as time expired to give Eastern Illinois a 38-35 victory over Tennessee State on Saturday.
Wilke, who is just 5-of-10 on field goal attempts this season, hit a 30-yarder to give the Panthers the win.
EIU (6-3, 5-1 Ohio Valley Conference) trailed by 14 points in the second quarter but rallied to tie the score at the half. The Panthers were victims of their own miscues in first half as quarterback Brodie Reeder threw a pair of interceptions that Tennessee State defenders returned for touchdowns.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie notched a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown and teammate Marquez Hall added a 78-yard return for a score.
TSU (3-5, 2-2) had a true freshman making his first start at quarterback as Calvin McNairl was under center for the Tigers. Regular starting quarterback Antonio Heffner suffered a season-ending ankle injury last week at Eastern Kentucky.
