DURHAM, N.H. (AP) -- Maurice Murray carried 55 times for 206 yards and three touchdowns to lead Northeastern to a 31-13 upset over eighth-ranked New Hampshire on Saturday.
UNH, (6-3, 3-3) entered the game with a four-game winning streak. Northeastern ended a five-game losing streak to improve to 2-7, 1-5.
Northeastern quarterback Anthony Orio was nearly perfect, completing 11 of 12 passes for 153 yards and one touchdown. UNH's Ricky Santos completed 20 of 31 passes for 196 yards and one TD.
NU marched 65 yards during its first possession and Murray capped the drive with a three-yard run. After a UNH punt, Northeastern drove 90 yards to extend its lead to 14-0 at 14:54 of the second quarter on a 1-yard leap by Murray.
The Huskies took a 21-0 lead on a 3-yard pass from Orio to Alex Broomfield.
With 59 seconds remaining in the first half, the Wildcats drove 72 yards to pull within 21-7 on a 22-yard TD pass to Chad Kackert.
NU extended its advantage to 24-7 in the fourth quarter when Johnson kicked a 22-yard field goal. After an interception, Murray scored his third touchdown, a four-yard run.
New Hampshire responded with a one-yard scoring run by Keith LeVan to finish the scoring.
