STATESBORO, Ga. -- Antonio Henton scored five touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead Georgia Southern in a 34-27 win against Northeastern on Saturday night.
Henton accounted for 341 total yards, including two touchdowns and 298 yards on 16 of 27 passing for the Eagles (2-1). The sophomore quarterback also rushed for 43 yards and three touchdowns on 16 attempts.
Anthony Orio threw for 287 yards and a score on 24 of 38 attempts, and Alex Broomfield rushed for 126 yards and two scores on 30 carries for the Huskies (0-2) in the loss.
The two teams combined for 875 yards total offense.
The schools swapped touchdowns in the first quarter as Broomfield rushed for scores of 6 and 2 yards, while Henton's 7-yard scoring pass to Tim Camp and 1-yard touchdown run tied the game at 14-14 in the opening quarter.
Henton scored on a 5-yard touchdown run, cutting the lead to 27-21 in the third. He found Tim Camp for a 65-yard touchdown pass that would have sealed the comeback victory if not for a blocked extra point that sent the game into overtime at 27-27.
Georgia Southern's quarterback would end the game on the second play in overtime with a 25-yard touchdown run.
