CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Linebacker Glenn Dorris recovered a fumble by Lehigh quarterback J.B. Clark with 46 seconds left as Harvard fended off a fourth-quarter rally and beat Lehigh, 27-24, on Saturday.
Lehigh was driving towards a tying or winning score when Clark was hit from behind by defensive end Peter Ajayi at the Harvard 15. The ball popped right to Dorris, who also had a 21-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Harvard quarterback Chris Pizzotti completed 25 of 40 passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns and Matt Luft caught seven passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns for Harvard (4-1). Lehigh fell to 2-4.
Clark threw for 239 yards and three scores and Matt McGowan rushed for 105 yards for Lehigh, which lost to both Cornell and Princeton in the last minute this season.
Harvard led 24-10 after two Pizzotti touchdown passes to Luft, Dorris' interception return and a Patrick Long field goal.
Lehigh drew to within 24-17 midway through the third quarter when Sekou Yasane caught a 7-yard pass from Clark. After a 23-yard field goal by Long, Lehigh closed to 27-24 with 6:27 left in the game on Mike Fitzgerald's second touchdown reception of the game.
