DAVIS, Calif. -- Sophomore quarterback Greg Denham threw for 326 yards and five touchdowns in less than three quarters to lift UC Davis to a 55-24 win over Iona in non-conference action Saturday night.
Running back Corbin Cutshaw ran for 103 yards and one touchdown and receiver Brandon Rice caught 99 yards and one TD for the Aggies (4-4). Cutshaw also caught six passes for 67 yards and Josh Reese had 99 yards running and one touchdown for UC Davis.
After Cutshaw opened up the game with a 56-yard touchdown run for the Aggies, Denham led the rest of the way in the first half by throwing four TD passes -- two to wide receiver Chris Carter -- en route to an Aggies 41-10 halftime lead.
Leading by as much as 28 points, the Aggies also racked up 412 offensive yards and 20 first downs on 43 plays in the first half.
Denham tossed his fifth and final touchdown pass with 57 seconds left in the third quarter before turning over the duties to reserve quarterback Daniel Alfaro in the fourth quarter.
The Gaels scored their second and third TDs of the game on 16- and 3-yard catches by Miller and receiver Tim Mastrino, respectively, in the fourth quarter.
