CONWAY, Ark. -- Nathan Brown threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns to lead Central Arkansas over Northwestern State 42-6 Saturday night.
Brown went 19-of-35 and was intercepted twice. Each team had four turnovers.
Brown threw three touchdown passes in the first half as the Bears (8-2, 4-1 Southland Conference) built a 28-6 lead. Eric Ware caught five passes for 174 yards, including a 71-yard scoring reception from Brown in the second quarter.
Northwestern State (6-4, 3-2) fell out of a first-place tie with the Bears.
Brent Grimes scored the final two touchdowns for Central Arkansas, on a 50-yard catch-and-run from Brown and a 9-yard run.
Brown has thrown for 9,970 yards and 96 touchdowns in his career. The coaching staff was hoping he'd reach 10,000 yards at home, and the Bears play on the road next weekend.
Brown could have passed the milestone with a deep pass on fourth down late in the third quarter, but it fell incomplete. Central Arkansas was ahead 42-6, and Brown came out of the game after that.
