PHILADELPHIA -- Vince Davidson rushed for two touchdowns and Ohio fended off a late charge to beat Temple 31-23 Tuesday night for its seventh straight win.
The Bobcats (8-3, 6-1 Mid-American Confernce) moved one step closer to the league's Eastern Division Championship. They can clinch it by beating Kent State on Nov. 26.
The Bobcats led 17-10 heading into the fourth quarter with Temple driving. Ohio's Carl Jones intercepted Mike Girardi's pass at midfield and returned it to the Owls' 27. A penalty on the play advanced the ball to the 11, and Donte Harden eventually scored from 2 yards out.
Davidson's 41-yard score gave Ohio a 21-point lead at 31-10, but Temple (8-3, 5-2) scored quickly. The Owls then recovered an onside kick and scored again. Both touchdowns came on Girardi passes to Mike Campbell.
Ohio's Travis Carrie squelched a last gasp by recovering an onside kick.
