Ellison had lost the ball when he was sacked earlier in the period only to have The Citadel's Akeem Garnett return the fumble 36 yards as the Bulldogs (2-5, 2/3 Southern) surged ahead 21-20 on its second score in a two-minute span.
Ellison hit 7 of 10 passes for 138 yards and rushed for a career-high 135 yards, and Jerick McKinnon -- already in Georgia Southern's career top 10 for total yards and touchdowns -- rushed for a season-best 198 yards and two TDs on Military Appreciation Day.
