This is not the scenario Michigan wanted to be facing. A 14-point deficit late in the third quarter is never ideal, but the Wolverines aren't built to come from behind. Look for Utah to really turn up the heat and come after Jake Rudock. How does he respond?

The play of Oklahoma State WR Marcell Ateman is one bright spot (4 rec, 75 yds, TD) in the win. Coaches have been hoping the light would turn on for the ultra-talented WR. If he can do that consistently, that would be a boost for Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma State holds off CMU

It wasn't easy, and it certainly wasn't pretty. But Oklahoma State notched a 24-13 win in a tough opening game on the road at Central Michigan.

FINAL SCORE: UConn defeats Villanova 20-15 in its home opener. QB Bryant Shirreffs went 12-19 for 202 yards and 2 TDs to start the season.

Michigan's Rudock throws 2 1st-half picks

QB Jake Rudock has struggled in his Michigan debut with two first-half interceptions against Utah, which leads 10-3 at halftime.

TCU in a rare defensive struggle. Horned Frogs were held to 10 points in first half at Minnesota, with only TD coming after turnover gave them short field. TCU scored at least 30 points in every game last year. But Minnesota defense has been excellent, pressuring Trevone Boykin and making Frogs go on sustained drives.

Missed FG keeps TCU's lead in single-digits

Jaden Oberkrom's miss from 29-yards had Minnesota celebrating their good fortune, but TCU takes a 10-3 advantage into halftime on ESPN.

Play0:44

Villanova makes things interesting late

John Robertson's 3-yard TD run pulled the Commodores to within 5 of Connecticut with less than 2 minutes to go.

Play0:38

When in doubt, air it out

Western Kentucky trailed Vandy 3-0 late in the third, until Brandon Doughty's 65-yard pass to Tyler Higbee set the Hilltoppers up for a touchdown and a 7-3 lead headed to the fourth.

It's a win for Oklahoma State but I'm sure the Cowboys know they won't be legit Big 12 title contenders if they play like they did in their 24-13 win at Central Michigan. One bright spot was the play of the defensive line, particularly DT Vincent Taylor (3 TFL, 1 sack) and true freshman DT Darrion Daniels (1 TFL, 0.5 sack). DE Emmanual Ogbah was his usual disruptive self with 2 TFL, 1.5 sacks.

Minnesota finally gets on the board

It took nearly 25 minutes of game play, but the Golden Gophers have narrowed the TCU lead to 10-3 after a 42-yard FG late in the second quarter.

Play0:15

South Carolina runs past UNC

South Carolina rushed for 118 yards in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s win against North Carolina, the Gamecocks' most rushing yards in a fourth quarter since a 54-3 win against Kentucky in 2011. But it was the defense that impressed in a 17-13 win.

Play1:13

TCU doing it on both sides of the ball

Trevone Boykin's 11-yard TD pass in the 1st stands as the most recent score between TCU and Minnesota, as the Horned Frogs' unproven defense is holding the Golden Gophers to 38 total yards from scrimmage so far live on ESPN.

Play0:31

No mercy from these Yellow Jackets

No. 16 Georgia Tech has taken the air out of the ball, and perhaps that's the problem for Alcorn State. Marcus Marshall's 2nd TD of the night came on a run right up the middle to give GT a 62-6 lead.

Play0:48

Michigan trails Utah 10-3 at halftime

Jim Harbaugh's debut as Michigan coach hasn't gone according to plan so far, as QB Jake Rudock has thrown two picks, and Utah's Devontae Booker has scored the only TD. Follow live

Things get chippy between 'Nova and UCONN

Some might call this dive over the offensive line a good read by Villanova. But the Connecticut offense wasn't so keen on the play, nearly resulting in a brouhaha.

Play0:28

Oklahoma State looking to put away CMU

Mason Rudolph's 19-yard TD pass to Marcell Ateman boosted the Cowboys' lead to 24-13 over Central Michigan.

Play0:31

Linehan takes a deflection to the house

Tipped passes can be a QB's worst enemy. Just ask Matt Linehan, whose pass was intercepted and returned 29 yards for a TD by Ohio's Jovon Johnson.

Play0:45

Michigan went with Jake Rudock to limit turnovers, a huge issue last season. He had only five INTs on 345 attempts for Iowa. Has thrown two INTs on his first 16 attempts tonight. And some costly overthrows.

It's all TCU in the first quarter
