Good news for injured Oklahoma players

Navy responds strongly to Houston's opening score with a 6-play, 76-yard drive of its own. Keenan Reynolds' 52-yard run on the first play got things started; Chris Swain's 4-yard run capped it off. The Midshipmen moved the ball with ease; Houston struggled to defend their triple option attack.

Burns grabs INT, leads to points for Miami

Houston with a textbook opening drive: 13 plays, 82 yards, 5:25 capped by a 5-yard TD pass from Greg Ward Jr. to Steven Dunbar. Ward, who is battling an ankle injury suffered vs. Memphis two weeks ago, moved around well and doesn't seem to be suffering too many ill effects from it. The Cougars attacked the perimeter with the pass; Ward was 8-of-10 on the drive.

Houston comes into this game with two banged up quarterbacks: starter Greg Ward Jr. and backup Kyle Postma. Ward (ankle) is warming up with the first team offense in pregame 7-on-7. Leading rusher Kenneth Farrow is not dressed out. It appears he won't play, which is a big blow for Houston's running game.

Rooting interest today for Notre Dame: Navy over Houston, TCU over Baylor, Nebraska over Iowa. Committee loves Navy, which is ND's best win to date. If Mids win today and Temple wins Saturday, ND will have wins against both teams in AAC title game. Baylor loss eliminates Bears from Big 12 title contention and the possibility of jumping ND for playoff spot. Iowa loss would make it tough for Hawkeyes to make Playoff even if they beat MSU/OSU/Mich in Big Ten title game.

ICYMI: Texas Tech gets tricky for TD

The Red Raiders lined up like they would kneel the ball and run out the clock against Texas. Instead, Jakeem Grant surprised everyone, took the ball and raced 40 yards for the score.

OTD: Cowboys lasso crazy interception

On this date in 2010, Oklahoma State's Brodrick Brown gave new meaning to the tip drill when he leaped out of bounds to deflect the ball back into play, where LB Shaun Lewis then completed the improbable interception.
