Michigan went with Jake Rudock to limit turnovers, a huge issue last season. He had only five INTs on 345 attempts for Iowa. Has thrown two INTs on his first 16 attempts tonight. And some costly overthrows.

It's all TCU in the first quarter

Oklahoma State is struggling at Central Michigan, largely due to third down. Oklahoma State is 2 of 8 on 3rd down. Central Michigan is 8 of 15 on 3rd down.

Michigan hasn't shown anything thus far to make you think the Wolverines are going to be a force running the ball. They have 17 rush yards in nine attempts. Run blocking has to improve, and the backs have to get more on their own.

Steve Spurrier said he "called a lousy game" but "the football gods smiled on us." He says UNC's D "got the best of us.

Devontae Booker gets his first touchdown of the year for Utah from one yard out. Utah leads Michigan 10-3 in the second quarter. Booker has rushed 11 times for 19 yards against the Michigan defense.

It's tough to stop a TD when you fall down

Jordan Reid had found a gap behind the defense anyway, but Idaho's Russell Siavii made things easy for Ohio when his feet got tangled in his attempt to defend the pass.

Very impressive drive by Utah. Love the patience Booker shows. Michigan had outplayed Utes until now. How do Wolverines respond?

Kenny Allen kicked a 30-yard field goal just after the second quarter began, as Michigan tied Utah 3-3. Those are the first points scored in Jim Harbaugh's first game for the Wolverines. Follow live

With Jake Rudock getting the start for Michigan, that means seven teams, including six Top 25 teams, could end up starting QBs this season who were playing elsewhere within the last two years. The wild card is Alabama, but Jake Coker is the expected starter for the Tide. He was with FSU two years ago. Rudock, who threw an interception on his first series, is a graduate transfer from Iowa. The others are Vernon Adams at Oregon (Eastern Washington), Everett Golson at FSU (Notre Dame), Chad Kelly at Ole Miss (Clemson), Greyson Lambert at Georgia (Virginia) and Baker Mayfield at Oklahoma (Texas Tech).

What a night for new South Carolina DC Jon Hoke. Unit gets two interceptions in end zone. UNC leaving a ton of points on the field but promising start for Gamecocks. Hoke hire overlooked with all the SEC D-coordinator changes but paying off. Expected a lot more consistency from Marquise Williams.

ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo

Marquise Williams (UNC): 3 interceptions inside opponent's 25-yard line (0 such interceptions in 87 career passes entering game)

Cooper Rush's name is too appropriate

The Central Michigan QB has 166 yards through the air on 18-27 passing, but his first TD of the night came courtesy of his feet. Oklahoma State leads CMU 17-13 in the 3rd quarter.
