Illinois completes a impressive goal-line stand vs. Iowa to protect a 7-6 lead. The Illini, who had all kinds of trouble defensively the past couple of seasons, are wildly improved up front and against the run. They're hanging tough against what has been a very good offensive line for the Hawkeyes this season.

Ohio State has gone back to playing multiple QBs, and it's working for them so far. J.T. Barrett is emerging as the "red-zone QB" with Cardale Jones handling the rest of the drive, and based on early returns, it just might be the solution Urban Meyer has been looking for offensively.

In 2013, Texas got off to a great start, including a pick-six in the first quarter, which catapulted it to the stunning upset over OU. So far, the Longhorns are following the same playbook, turning a Sooner fumble into a touchdown. Texas 14, Oklahoma 0 in the first quarter.

Charlie Strong doesn't need to beat Oklahoma today to solidify his tenure at Texas. But he can't afford to get run out of the Cotton Bowl, either. Given the infighting in the locker room, this feels like a fork-in-the-road game for the Longhorns. If they no-show for a second straight week, the season could really spiral. Conversely, if they hang tough, even if they don't win, that could give Strong something to build off of going forward.

Brian Bennett ESPN Staff Writer

Perfect fall day expected at Kinnick Stadium for Illinois at Iowa today. Sunshine with a temperature of 62 degrees at kickoff and up to 68 by the end of the game, according to Accuweather.
