Florida State backup running back Mario Pender won't play against Miami, but the redshirt junior is out of the hospital. It's going to be a beautiful night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, where No. 17 USC is set to host Washington (9 p.m, ET, ESPN). Who to watch: JuJu Smith-Schuster and Adoree' Jackson. When targeting either of them, USC QB Cody Kessler has connected on 34-of-39 passes (87.5 percent) for 730 yards and seven touchdowns without an interception this year.

Florida State running back Dalvin Cook (left hamstring) practiced the last two days, but Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher said it's still up in the air if Cook plays against Miami on Saturday. The fact Cook has practiced is probably a good sign he'll be able to play in some capacity for the No. 12 Seminoles. Senior linebacker Terrance Smith (ankle) is out, but safety Nate Andrews (knee bruise) could see a limited role.

Baylor RB Shock Linwood has been the Big 12's best runner this season. According to ESPN Stats and Information, Linwood is averaging 4.42 yards after contact per rush. His ability to run through tackles has helped him average 9.42 yards per carry. Even in a conference full of stars at QB and WR, Linwood will deserve Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year consideration if he continues to put up big numbers.

Mike Warren has taken over as Iowa State's primary RB and has ignited the running game. The Cyclones rushed for more than 200 yards in back-to-back games for the first time since 2013 with Warren leading the way. The redshirt freshman rushed for 126 yards against Toledo and 175 yards against Kansas. He could be important against Texas Tech on Saturday as Iowa State looks to limit the chances it gives the Red Raider offense.

The University of Oregon is offering free tickets to this Saturday's Washington State game to Umpqua Community College students and staffers. Oregon has already added decals to their helmets to honor the victims and community of the UCC shooting but it's great to see Oregon continuing to reach out in different ways.

In surrendering more than 40 points a game right now, it's not unthinkable that Kansas could challenge Louisiana-Lafayette’s 1997 defense for the ignominious FBS season record of 50.3 points allowed per game. Especially given the Jayhawks' remaining schedule includes the nation's top three scoring teams, including Baylor this weekend.

Maryland says Edsall will coach vs. OSU
