Editor's note: Charlie Creme will project the 2005 NCAA Tournament bracket right up until the official field of 64 is unveiled Sunday (ESPN, 5 p.m. ET). Click here for a glance at this month's field of 64, check out Creme's first-round pairings and then check back later this week. Projection includes games through March 9.
Ohio State didn't play since our last projection on Tuesday, but that didn't stop the Buckeyes from bumping up a spot in our latest bracket.
Rutgers' loss in the Big East final Tuesday allowed Ohio State, not Big East champion Connecticut, to jump one spot to a No. 2 seed. In our prediction two days ago, Rutgers had been the Kansas City Regional's second seed, but now has exchanged places with Ohio State, which was previously the No. 3 seed in Tempe.
The Huskies remained a No. 3 in the Philadelphia Regional, behind top-seeded Michigan State and No. 2 seed North Carolina.
A look at the latest predicted field of 64, which included several other minor tweaks, but no new teams since Tuesday:
Last four in: Gonzaga, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Iowa.
Last four out: Purdue, Old Dominion, Rice, Houston.
Next four out: Xavier, Auburn, Chattanooga, Nebraska.
