K-State's Wecker named preseason player of year

DALLAS -- Kansas State forward Kendra Wecker, the Big 12's top returning scorer, was named the conference's preseason player of the year on Tuesday.

Wecker was joined on the preseason All-Big 12 first team by Baylor forward Sophia Young and three players from Texas -- forwards Tiffany Jackson and Heather Schrieber, and guard Jamie Carey.

Wecker, a 5-11 senior, gives Kansas State its third consecutive preseason player of the year after Nicole Ohlde earned back-to-back honors in 2002 ...
