Wecker named Player of Year
DALLAS -- Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson, fresh from leading the Bears to their first conference title in school history, was named Big 12 coach of the year on Friday.
It's the first time the award has been given to Mulkey-Robertson, whose Lady Bears (No. 8 ESPN/USA Today; No. 7 AP) went 14-2 in the Big 12 and is 24-3 overall. Two Baylor players, forward Sophia Young and center Steffanie Blackmon, were chosen as first-team All-Big 12 selections by the conference coaches.
