NEW ORLEANS -- Connecticut athletic director Jeff Hathaway is spending the weekend the way most of his colleagues wish they were -- traveling between the men's and women's Final Fours.
Hathaway was in San Antonio on Saturday night to see the Connecticut men beat Duke 79-78 in the national semifinal and made it to New Orleans to watch the women beat Minnesota 67-58 Sunday to advance to the title game.
"It's fantastic. I'd do this anytime," Hathaway said.
The flight isn't that long, about an hour, and a university donor offered to fly Hathaway from one site to another.
He arrived in New Orleans about 1:30 p.m. Sunday and planned to leave right after the women's game.
"The people here were as excited as the people in San Antonio," Hathaway said.
UConn is the fifth school to have both its men's and women's team in the Final Four the same year and the second to have both teams reach the finals after Duke in 1999. No program has won the national title when both teams qualified.
