FRESNO, Calif. -- Notre Dame freshman guard Charel Allen went down with a left knee injury with 14:23 remaining in the Fighting Irish's second-round NCAA Tournament game against Arizona State on Monday night.
The team said she would not return.
Allen collided with Sun Devils guard Betsy Boardman while attempting a fast-break layup. She immediately grabbed her left knee when she hit the floor and was down for a couple minutes before being helped off the court. She grimaced as she made her way to the bench.
Allen, who made the Big East all-freshman team, was scoreless in eight minutes.
