Wooley's jump shot proves to be game-winner
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -- Allison Wooley hit a jumper with 11 seconds left to lead Trinity of Texas to a 60-58 victory over Eastern Connecticut State in the NCAA Division III national championship on Saturday night.
Eastern Connecticut State's Morgan Perry hit a layup with 38 seconds left to tie the game at 58 before Wooley hit the winning shot.
Wooley led the Tigers (28-5) with 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting.
Deanne Prior led the Warriors (28-5) with 21 points on 9-for-13 shooting and Allison Coleman added 14 points.
Trinity led 33-21 at the half and 40-23 with 16:50 remaining. But the Tigers were outscored 35-20 the rest of the game.
In Saturday's third-place game, Wisconsin-Eau Claire beat Rochester 82-77 in double overtime.
