Lady Raiders lose another key player
A month ago, Texas Tech lost its top scorer. Now, the Lady Raiders' top shot blocker and second-best rebounder is lost for the season, too.
A month after senior Jia Perkins left the team for undisclosed medical reasons, junior center Cisti Greenwalt is out for the season after suffering a fractured right ankle in the first half of Tuesday's win over Missouri.
Greenwalt, who was averaging 7.9 points (third on the team) and 5.7 rebounds, will undergo surgery to repair the ankle later this week, Texas Tech coach Marsha Shapr said Wednesday.
"This is just another blow to our team," Sharp said. "I feel bad for our players and our fans to have to endure this adversity. I have confidence that our team will respond as they have all season long."
Greenwalt played in all 26 games this year, starting eight. She was leading the team in blocks with 57. At Texas A&M on Feb. 14, Greenwalt became the school record holder for career blocks and has 195 in her three years at Tech.
