DALLAS -- Kansas State center Nicole Ohlde set the Big 12 Conference record for career scoring Thursday night.
She surpassed Phylesha Whaley of Oklahoma with a short turnaround jumper in the No. 8 Wildcats' conference tournament semifinal game against Oklahoma (No. 20 ESPN/USA Today, No. 29 AP). Whaley scored 2,187 points from 1997-2000.
Ohlde had 2,189 after the shot, which was good for her 14th point and pulled Kansas State within 69-57 with 2:30 remaining. She finished with 18 points for a record of 2,193. The Sooners won 78-66.
Ohlde, a 6-foot-5 center, averages 17 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. League coaches voted her Big 12 player of the year for two straight seasons.
She scored 14 in the Wildcats' quarterfinal victory over Missouri.
