Jarrard, White join Wildcat staff
MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Shelley Jarrard, an assistant women's basketball coach at Utah for 10 years, and Stephanie White, a player with the Indiana Fever of the WNBA, are joining the coaching staff at Kansas State.
Their appointments were announced Friday by coach Deb Patterson. They replace Sue Serafini and Kristin Becker, who resigned last month.
Jarrard, who played at Vanderbilt and was a starter on its 1993 Final Four team, will be the primary recruiting coordinator for the Wildcats. An adept 3-point shooter in college, she worked with the perimeter players at Utah, coordinated recruiting and shared responsibility for defensive strategy.
White, a winner of the Wade Tropy Award in 1999, was a member of the Purdue team that beat Duke for the NCAA championship that year. She finished her career as the second all-time scoring leader for the Boilermakers with 2,182 points. She played her first WNBA season with Charlotte, then went to Indiana. Sidelined due to surgery in 2002, she served as a sideline reporter for the Fever's home games.
At Kansas State, she will do scouting, preseason conditioning, promotion and public relations and academic liaison.
