Chatman looking at four years at $200K per
BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU women's basketball coach Pokey Chatman will collect $200,000 a year for four years under a package approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors.
Chatman, who led the team to the women's Final Four in her first year as head coach, will get a base salary of $180,000 a year. The rest of the money will come from radio and television appearances, shoe contracts and other sources.
The board approved the package on Friday.
Chatman succeeded longtime coach Sue Gunter, who stepped down in April because of health problems. Chatman has spent 17 years at LSU as a star player, assistant coach and now head coach. She became acting head coach Feb. 19.
The team finished 27-8, and the Final Four trip was the school's first in women's basketball.
