Thomas suffered injury at Rutgers
BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU freshman forward Ashley Thomas will have surgery to repair her right knee on Friday and will miss the remainder of the season.
Thomas, from Stone Mountain, Ga., suffered the injury in the first half of LSU's game at Rutgers last Wednesday. She had played in all of LSU's 14 games before the injury and was averaging 9.6 minutes, 1.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.
"We are expecting a speedy and full recovery from Ashley," LSU coach Pokey Chatman said. "She will approach her rehabilitation process like she has approached everything about basketball, in a positive mind set and with a 100 percent effort."
LSU team doctor Brent Bankston will be the surgeon on the procedure that will repair the torn ligaments in her knee.
