Coach has recurrence of breast cancer
NC State will honor coach Kay Yow by giving pink breast cancer awareness bands to the first 4,000 fans at Friday night's game against North Carolina.
Yow was diagnosed with the disease in 1987. She had a tumor removed in December. The school said earlier this week that Yow had a "limited tumor recurrence," which has been removed surgically and treated with radiation and daily hormone therapy.
The Wolfpack will wear pink shoelaces, and the Tar Heels will wear pink ribbons to honor Yow, according to The (Raleigh) News & Observer.
Yow is expected to return to the bench against Miami on Jan. 20. Associate head coach Stephanie Glance will take over in the interim.
