Irvin also has 1st triple-double in TCU history
FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU's Sandora Irvin set an NCAA Division I record with 16 blocked shots in the Lady Frogs' 75-34 victory over UAB on Sunday.
Irvin, who also had 20 points and 18 rebounds for the first triple-double in school history, broke the record of 15 set by Amy Lundquist of Loyola Marymount in December 1992 against Western Kentucky. LaKisha Phifer holds the overall record with 20 blocked shots for Division II St. Paul's in January 1996.
The NCAA Division I men's record of 14 is held by four players, including David Robinson and Shawn Bradley.
TCU finished with 19 blocked shots to tie the Division I record for a team.
