Chatman gives LSU another honoree

LSU swept two of the major awards Wednesday as the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) released its 2004-05 winners and All-America team.

LSU's Seimone Augustus was named National Player of the Year while the Lady Tigers' Pokey Chatman earned National Coach of the Year.

Stanford's Candice Wiggins and Georgia's Tasha Humphrey were selected Co-National Freshmen of the Year.

Joining Augustus on the 10-member USBWA All-America team were Monique Currie (Duke), Jessica Davenport (Ohio State), Sandora Irvin (TCU), Tiffany Jackson (Texas), Temeka Johnson (LSU), Janel McCarville (Minnesota), Kendra Wecker (Kansas State), Tanisha Wright (Penn State) and Sophia Young (Baylor). It marks the fifth straight year Duke has registered a player on the USBWA All-America team.
