VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Lindsay Ippel scored 25 points and Joanna Conner had 14 points and 15 rebounds as Millikin won its first NCAA Division III national championship Saturday, beating cold-shooting Randolph-Macon 70-50.
Audrey Minott added 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting for Millikin (29-2).
Megan Silva led Randolph-Macon (30-2) with 11 points, and Emily Crider added 10.
Millikin coach Kori Kerans was the starting point guard on the Big Blue's third-place team in 1985.
"My heart is about to burst," Kerans said. "I'm not for sure that this is the best ever team at Millikin, but this team carried the torch for all the kids who have been through the program."
Southern Maine (31-3) beat Scranton (29-3) in the third-place game, 55-53.
