Third ankle surgery ends Michelle's basketball career
CINCINNATI -- Michelle Munoz is leaving Ohio State's basketball team.
After undergoing three ankle operations in three years, Munoz said she decided to stop playing after her most recent surgery two weeks ago. She will stay as a student assistant to the team.
Last season, Munoz averaged 4.3 points and 2.4 rebounds, but was not the standout player in college that she was in high school. Her injuries started in her second practice at Ohio State.
Earlier this week, Munoz's brother, Michael, said he would not play professional football when he went undrafted last weekend.
Anthony Munoz, Michelle and Michael's father, was a Hall of Fame offensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals.
