Baylor picked to win Big 12 title
DALLAS -- Defending national champion Baylor was picked to win its second consecutive Big 12 title in a preseason poll of conference coaches released Thursday.
The Lady Bears, who won their first NCAA title by beating Michigan State, received six first-place votes and 113 points to edge Texas, which was second with two first-place votes and 110 points.
Baylor returns Sophia Young and two other starters from last year's 33-3 team that won the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles.
Texas Tech was a close third with the four remaining first-place votes and 108 points, followed by Oklahoma (91), Nebraska (70) and Kansas (66).
Rounding out the poll were Texas A&M (59), Kansas State (56), Iowa State (45), Missouri (37), Oklahoma State (23) and Colorado (14).
