Moore, Bush suspended for breaking team rules
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Seniors Kristin Moore and Adrienne Bush have been suspended from the Arkansas women's basketball team for what Lady Razorbacks coach Susie Gardner said were unrelated violations.
Moore was suspended five games for a violation of school regulations, and Bush received a four-game suspension for a violation of team and women's athletic department rules. Neither player will play during exhibition games.
"These are things that happened in the spring and summer, and they are unrelated," Gardner said Monday.
Moore, a post player, averaged 6.3 points per game in 2004-05 before a season-ending knee injury in January. Bush, a guard, averaged 4.0 points.
"It is my job to think of what is best for the team, and for each player as individuals," Gardner said. "I hope that both of them have learned life lessons from these events. They have apologized to the team, and I believe they have learned from this. We are moving on as a team."
Arkansas opens the regular season at Southern Methodist on Nov. 18.
